Patients have the tendency of equating the quality of a medical practice with their first impression of the dental receptionist. Along with appropriate personal deportment or behavior, a dental receptionist is required to have a professional appearance. All members of the staff of a dental clinic are expected to wear appropriate clothes and have a well-groomed appearance. Some dental clinics provide their staff with a business and/or clinical attire. Only employees who are working directly with patients should wear surgical scrubs.
When you are working at the front desk of a dental practice, you should follow a dental receptionist dress code. That means no jeans or extremely casual wear, being conservative with the use of cosmetics, perfume, or jewelry. If your duties involve assisting the dentist in direct patient care, be sure NOT to wear the contaminated scrub jacket when you are back manning the front desk.
